It's obvious how we human beings protect ourselves against the cold: by putting on warm winter clothes, turning up the heating, and lots of exercise.

But what do animals do? We went to Frankfurt Zoo to find out.

At its launch in 1956 the lottery was about giving children in West Berlin the chance of a holiday. After the war ended, the city became an enclave inside of communist East Germany. The original prizes the lottery offered back then were a Mercedes 180 for the top winner,  a Messerschmitt bubble-car,  an NSU Lambretta, or, as a special prize, a 14-day trip to the island of Elba including a full set of diving equipment. It was a huge success from the very beginning and 55,000 children benefited from revenues of the first prize draws. To this day a total of 1.3 billion Euro have gone to about 5 600 different social organizations supporting children, the disabled and the elderly.
